Dear Parents/Carers
Uniform Policy Change - Trial

During the recent parent questionnaires, a few parents commented on cloakroom situations as children enter school. This is an area we would also like to improve on and we have been talking to the children about various actions we could take.

One thing we have considered is the need for indoor footwear. This is having a negative impact in school including:

  • The time it takes for children, particularly younger children, to change into different footwear at frequent intervals during the day.
  • The regular problems of missing footwear, again delaying the start of learning activities and also affecting staff deployment as they spend time searching for shoes.
  • Loss of learning time due to congestion in cloakrooms.
  • The impact on health – A simple google search will highlight the negative impact of wearing pumps for significant lengths of time.
  • Additional costs of footwear that are not necessary.

After careful consideration, we have therefore taken the decision to remove the requirement to provide your children with indoor footwear. From Monday 24th February, after the half term break, children will now only be required to attend school in their ‘black school shoes’ as stated in the policy.

If children walk to school in wellies or any other footwear due to inclement weather, please can they bring their black school shoes in a bag to change into for the day.

Yours sincerely,

Mr M Walker
