In light of the current situation regarding Covid-19 and the speculation as to whether schools will close, we have begun contingency plans should the government decide to take this action. It is important for us that our children do not miss the education they would receive during the normal school days. We have therefore looked at various distant learning options and have decided to use Google Classroom.
Google Classroom allows teachers to send work, PowerPoints, worksheets and other information to children whilst they are not at school. It also allows them to return work and receive feedback directly from the teacher.
To enable us to set this system up we require every child to have an email address. This can be a parent email. Attached you will find a letter explaining how to set up your google account. This can be done with any email and does not need to be a new google account. Once you have logged in to the website below. Please insert the correct class code, which is detailed below (use the how to guide to help).
Nursery: 3l5fhr4
Reception: qz6t73q
Year 1: uc77c4i
Year 2: gnvvjnl
Year 3: hjs7v2s
Year 4: qtrinen
Year 5: phhmaer
Year 6: p2tly6y
We understand that not every home has a scanner, laptop and printer and therefore children can access the google classroom via a phone on the Google Classroom app. This can be downloaded on ios, android and other mobile operating systems for free.
Children will be assigned a variety of task on this platform. You do not need to complete all your work on a computer, work can be hand written on to paper and then submitted as a photo via the app or a file.
If you do not have access to the internet or a computer/laptop, please let us know so that we can try to tailor support.
As well as this system, the school Facebook page and messaging services will be used to keep you informed on the current situation.
Yours sincerely,
Mr M Walker
