🌿✨ Howard’s Heritage Day 2025 ✨🌿
Today we celebrated Howard’s Heritage Day, a much-loved tradition that has been part of our school’s culture for generations. This annual event helps us reflect on our long history while deepening our sense of belonging as a community.
This year’s theme, “Howard School and the Outdoors,” encouraged children to explore the importance of nature and play in school life — past and present. From the Forest School area created in the 1980s, to our Peace Garden, to our flourishing polytunnel, the outdoors has always inspired Howard pupils across the decades.
Children took part in a wonderful range of creative activities, all linked to this theme. They collected natural objects to design their own wreaths, experimented with typography, produced detailed observational sketches, created watercolour landscape stories, and even used charcoal rubbings to capture the textures of our school environment. The results were stunning and showcased both artistic skill and imagination.
As always, it was a joy to see pupils dressed in school uniforms from different eras, and to hear stories and memories shared by families. A highlight was our special birthday cake for the school — now an incredible 192 years old! 🎂 Year 6 led the tradition of cutting and sharing the cake before we came together for a joyful worship, giving thanks for our school, its history, and the many enriching experiences we continue to share.
