Did you know that just registering your child for Free School Meals means our school receives extra funding? This money, called the Pupil Premium, is provided by the Government to help schools support pupils who may face barriers to learning.
At Ackworth Howard, we believe every child should experience life in all its fullness and have equal access to an ambitious curriculum, enrichment opportunities, and the support they need to thrive.
The Pupil Premium is additional funding for children who:
- Are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) now or have been in the past 6 years.
- Are Looked After or previously Looked After.
- Have parents serving in the Armed Forces.
This funding is not ring-fenced to individuals; instead, we use it strategically to ensure disadvantaged pupils achieve strong academic progress, develop confidence and resilience, and access the same rich experiences as their peers.
Our current priorities include:
- Embedding a trauma-informed, inclusive culture across the school.
- Launching Howard’s Hub, a dedicated space for emotional regulation, wellbeing, and professional collaboration.
- Sustaining high-quality teaching, particularly in literacy, writing, and oracy.
- Ensuring all pupils can take part in enrichment opportunities, visits, and music.
By registering for Free School Meals, you are helping us unlock valuable funding that directly benefits children at Ackworth Howard.
