About Ackworth Howard

Ackworth Howard school is a lively and friendly primary school set in the pretty and historic village of Ackworth, three miles from Pontefract.

Built in 1833 by Miss Rachel Howard the school has been central to village life for nearly 200 years. Built of Ackworth sandstone, at a cost of £450, teaching originally focussed on the three Rs – reading, writing and arithmetic!

We work hard to create a culture in our school where every individual feels valued, supported and able to achieve his or her best. Together with individual achievement, the whole school community is very important to us.

Our school has been judged GOOD by Ofsted and achieved OUTSTANDING in its SIAMs inspection.
